Stornoway Conference

Stornoway Free Church (Continuing)

Western Isles Bible Conference

“Saved from our Enemies” provides the theme for this year’s Western Isles Bible Conference, which takes place, God willing, in Stornoway over next weekend. The Conference, which is now in its seventh year and is due to run from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th June, is hosted by the Stornoway Congregation of the Free Church (Continuing).

This year’s speaker is Rev. Trevor Kirkland, Minister of Templepatrick Reformed Church, Northern Ireland. Upon leaving college he worked for sometime in the textile industry before being called to the Ministry. He has been pastor at Templepatrick for around 20 years, and is married with four children. A regular visitor and speaker over many years at the annual Free Church School in Theology, he has preached in a variety of congregations throughout Scotland and even made it to Harris earlier this year. This will however, be the first time he has had the opportunity to preach in Lewis.

In all Mr Kirkland will give five addresses, based on the prophecy of Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, recorded in Luke chapter one. Under consideration will be the various enemies which confront both believers and unbelievers in this world and from which deliverance is needed and for which God has made wonderful provision in the Lord Jesus Christ. In considering what God was to do through the soon to be born Lord Jesus, Zacharias gave thanks that he was about to see fulfilled God’s ancient promise “That we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all that hate us.” Friday evening(7.30pm) is given over to Saved from the Curse of the Law. Saturday (2pm & 6.30pm) will be on themes Saved from the World and then Saved from Flesh. Finally on the Sabbath (11am &6.30pm) the themes are Saved from the Deviland Saved from Death.

There will be a time for tea and fellowship between the addresses on Saturday. It is hoped that these meetings will prove most beneficial and a warm welcome awaits all.
